The current implementation of OpenGL only supports standard 1-D and 2-D texture mapping. An interface is proposed to extend the OpenGL library, to support a simplied model of antialiased procedural solid texturing in OpenGL version 1.1. This extension to the OpenGL language does not modify the existing OpenGL standard. It is designed as a supplemental library that works with existing implementations of OpenGL. The extended API for procedural solid texturing is outlined. The limitations regarding the extension of OpenGL are noted. Finally, suggestions are made for modifying the OpenGL standard to provide a tighter integration of OpenGL and procedural solid texturing.
